Memorial Day

1. What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is when we remember those who died in honor while serving for the military services.
2.When is it?
It is traditionally May 30th, but it is now becoming observed on the last Monday of May.
3. What are some ways to show honor and respect on Memorial Day?
You can show your honor and respect on Memorial Day by sending letters to soldiers, visiting a nearby veteran's cemetery or war memorial. You can also visit a veteran's hospital and deliver the patients cookies, flowers, or write them thank you cards. You can always do what most people do and watch the National Memorial Day Parade in person or on television, and spend leisure time with your family.
4. Add Pictures:

5. Include anything else of interest pertaining to Memorial Day
I did not know there was a National Memorial Day Parade until just recently. 6. What are a few things you will do on Memorial Day to show honor and respect?
In respect for this holiday I will watch the National Memorial Day Parade.
7. Write a reflection of at least 8 sentences about your thoughts and feelings of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is a great holiday. It means a lot to those who have relatives that have served in the army. It shows that they are much appreciated, and are honorable for what they have done. I enjoy memorial day because my family gets the day off from work and we are all able to spend leisure time together. I am really interested in seeing the National Memorial Day Parade now that I am aware of its existence. I am wondering what they will do at such an event, and my interest is peaked. I will celebrate Memorial Day this way from now on if a good show is put on. For anyone who has served in the military services, I'd now like to say thank you

Student Success Statement
Eight great reasons to tell the truth.
1.Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict.
2. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished.
3.Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened.
4.You uually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught.)
5.Other people trust you more when you tell the truth.
6.You don’t have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight.
7.You gain a reoutation for being truthful- a trait most people value.
8. Telling the truth helps you to feel secure and peaceful inside.

Reflection: It is important to tell the truth because it is the right thing to do, and it is a good value to follow. It is important to tell the truth even if it gets you in trouble because this shows that you are willing to be honest no matter what the consequences are. This, will earn you credibility and help others see you as an honest person. It is important that others see you this way because it is what most people value in a person. For people to have any sort of relationship, there needs to be trust. If you have no trust in a relationship, then it cannot move forward, so it will probably crash and burn. For us to function in society we need to have relationships, so essentially telling the truth is what earns a significant amount of this success in social interactions.

“If I’ve got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right, I’m going to succeed.” - Dan Dierdorf

Reflection: If someone has a goal, then they are more likely to get somewhere. If a person doesn't have goals, then they will have no purpose. If a person has no purpose, then they will not get far in life, and they will not be happy.  It is important to set goals so that you can achieve them, but you need to set goals that are correct. What I mean by correct is that these goals are met only by choosing the right and through constant hard work. If a person is constantly overachieving in everything they do, they are bound to end up reaching their goals. They may fail at times, but choosing the right and working hard will eventually get them to where they want to be. If a person completes the work cut out for them in order to reach their goals, then they will achieve them and everything will fall into place after that. Such things falling into place would be more opportunities, and happiness. The way to succeed is to create goals that you will achieve by choosing the right and by showing your strong work ethic.

“ The most important thing you will ever have is values.”- Dennis Prager

Reflection: I agree with this quote by Dennis Prager. An individual should always have good values no matter what.Values are the set of rules we go by in our lives. It is important because our personalities will greatly depend on the quality of our values.Values are things that signify the core aspects of our self. Values will help you recover a clearer sense of what's most essential to you in life. Our values are important because they help us to grow and develop. They help us to create the future we want to experience.Without values in our lives we will not have a civilized society and we will lose all sense of meaning in our life- the two can not be separated unless we lead a corrupt life with no sense of meaning. Good values are what make up our character and contribute to our daily lives.

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”Dr. Laura Schlessinger.

Example: If you find a ipad case with 13,000 dollars in it, should you keep it? No, you should not because you will feel good inside if you hand it over without expecting any reward.

Reflection:This statement means that you earn more than physical rewards for doing the right things. You improve yourself as a person and that right there is the most outstanding reward one can receive. When you do the right thing you will feel good your self-esteem, integrity, dignity and self-respect will always be high and for the same reason you will always be high and forthe same reason you will feel that you done the right. The reward that someone can received for choosing the right wont always be something of financial value, but it is assured that it will always be something of immense spiritual value. When doing right a feeling of respect and satisfaction will come  someone's own person, and this is the greatest reward because it is the best way to live an incredible life.

Phillip Riggs’ Four Success Tips
1.Work hard
2.Follow your passions. Do things that you are interested in doing.
3. Don’t chase after money
4. Serve others. Do good things for others and good things will come to you.

Phillip Riggs is a very motivational person. He inspired me because he is a very good man. He has always worked hard all of his life, and that got him very far. He is doing what he has passion for and I look up to him because of that. He always only did things that he was interested in, and he never thought about the money. He is a very humble man, and I wish someday I can develop his good habits. He also says to give back to others. You shouldn’t always think about what you can get, but what you can give. He never really thought about himself, but what he had to give to others.

“ In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.” Theodore Roosevelt

Example: If you are making a decision on whether or not to go to that party late, what is the best thing you can do? The best decision you can make should be the right one.

Reflection: I agree with this quote by Theodore Roosevelt because decisions are not easy. But in order to make the best one possible, then you need to CTR. CTR is not just a motto it is a way of life. If you always CTR you will be taken care of. However if you CTW you will make all of the wrong decisions. CTR will always lead you down the path of success and a happy heart. CTW will lead you down the path of failure and regret. If you CTR you will never have to worry about making the wrong decisions. Once you start choosing the right, you can never go wrong.

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”- Wilford Woodruff

Example: For example, you go to a party and there are alcoholic drinks. You drink there and get really drunk. You come home at around midnight and your parents see that you are drunk. They ground you for a month, they are disappointed in you, and you have lost their trust. What did you gain from doing the wrong? Nothing! You didn’t gain anything. The only benefit you will get is when you do the right thing.

Reflection:What this quote by Wilford Woodruff is that we never gain anything from doing wrong, on the contrary, we get bad feelings as well as we lose dignity and respect if we choose to do the wrong things. You gain so much from doing the right things that it isn't really worth it to do anything associated as being wrong. So don't smoke, break the law, or anything that you know and feel is wrong, because remember that our actions can also bring consequences. There is no benefit from doing what’s wrong. You don’t gain anything from it.Choose the right and you will benefit and gain something. If you choose the right, then you will gain something. If you CTW it will lead you down the path of failure and you will not be successful.

Great Wall Of China

Perhaps the most recognizable symbol of China and its long and vivid history, the Great Wall of China actually consists of numerous walls and fortifications, many running parallel to each other. Originally conceived by Emperor Qin Shi Huang (c. 259-210 B.C.) in the third century B.C. as a means of preventing incursions from barbarian nomads into the Chinese Empire. The wall is one of the most extensive construction projects ever completed. The best-known and best-preserved section of the Great Wall was built in the 14th through 17th centuries A.D., during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Though the Great Wall never effectively prevented invaders from entering China, it came to function more as a psychological barrier between Chinese civilization and the world, and remains a powerful symbol of the country’s enduring strength. When Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordered construction of the Great Wall around 221 B.C., the labor force that built the wall was made up largely of soldiers and convicts. It is said that as many as 400,000 people died during the wall's construction; many of these workers were buried within the wall itself. With the death of Qin Shi Huang and the fall of the Qin dynasty, much of the Great Wall fell into disrepair. The Bei Qi kingdom (550–577) built or repaired more than 900 miles of wall, and the short-lived but effective Sui dynasty (581–618) repaired and extended the Great Wall of China a number of times.

“It’s a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.” Pam Knox

Example: If you know you're supposed to be at a time out at your computer, you are choosing the right. However if you listen to instructions the first time, then you are doing the right thing at the right time.

Reflection: You should always ctr 24/7. No matter what condition you are in or what situation, you should never choose the wrong. I agree with this quote by Pam Knox. If you choose the right in your daily life, then you will always make the right choices. If you make the right choices it will be at the right time.Being a CTR will not only lead you down the path of success, but also down the path of happiness. If you choose the CTW path then it will only lead you to failure and not success in life.

“ I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor.’ I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls- walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground- there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk like around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.” - Karl G. Maesar

Example: Stand me next to the dog and ask me for my word of honor to take care of it. If I give my word, I will keep an eye on that dog until told otherwise.

Reflection: If you give your word, that is a promise.Promises can also be seen as character. If you don’t keep your word people will not believe you in the future. You must always keep your promises because you are staying true to yourself and your character. If you CTR you will never have to even consider breaking your promises. If you CTR 24/7 it will become part of you and you will lead a life of only fulfilled promises. I would never break my promise because breaking promise is never the right thing to do nor will it be fair to anyone. If you break a promise it shows how weak minded you are and how it can affect anyone you want it to affect.
